What is Vertical Farming?

What is Vertical Farming?

Vertical Farming is the agricultural process of growing crops on top of each other, rather than in rows. Plants are often grown indoors, with LED lights replacing sunshine and climate control facilities setting the temperature and humidity.

Indoor vertical farms can create the perfect environmental conditions for plants to succeed throughout the year. Vertical farms combine traditional agriculture with state-of-the-art technologies such as LED lights and plant health analysis software.

What is the advantage of Vertical Farms?

Vertical farming technologies increase the crop yield per square meter substantially, compared to traditional agriculture in outdoor fields. At Greens Bali we currently grow up to 5 levels, allowing 5 times the yield for our given land area.

Vertical farms do not lose crops due to extreme or unforeseen weather occurrences such as droughts or flooding.

Vertical farming is much less disruptive to the native land, plants, and animals, by utilising already existing buildings we are contributing toward the conservation of local habitats.

Growing in an enclosed condition means there is no need for pesticides, our indoor farm is already free of harmful bugs. 100% of our produce is organic and pesticide-free so there is no need to wash them before consuming.

Vertical farms are often located in the heart of communities, this significantly reduces food miles and means our produce is delivered on the same day that it is harvested, as fresh as could be!
